How things got started…          

A little over 14 years ago my beautiful daughter Alayna Jane came into this world. As she grew so did my ambitions. I went to work for a large Big and Tall retailer and my husband ran a franchised restaurant. We did well together and in 2000, I got offered a promotion.

I took the promotion and we moved to a small town outside of Atlanta called Flowery Branch. My promotion allowed for us to be a one-income family and my husband was able to stay at home with our daughter. Work was great, but I traveled a lot and I missed being at home with my family. Our daughter was growing so quickly and I was missing so much. I was desperate to spend more time at home with her. My wonderful husband noticed how unhappy I was with my job situation and suggested we trade positions. So, eager to have daily communication with actual adults again, he went back to work and I stayed at home with our daughter. 

I spent the next 2 years earning my degree in Accounting and raising Alayna. Shortly after I graduated, I started to sell new little girls clothes on E-bay to earn a little extra “play” money for our family. Although, I enjoyed it, I was not “in love” with my new found venture. The only thing I got true joy out of purchasing was dresses. (Who doesn't love buying pretty dresses?) Before long all I was purchasing was dresses. I bought dresses for Easter, Christmas Dresses, Birthday Dresses, Special Occasion Dresses, Summer Dresses, Spring Dress, and even 4th of July Dresses. I purchased Handmade Dresses, Brand Name Dresses and Dresses from New Up and Coming Designers. My goal, was to one day have a dress for EVERY girl in my store.

Sadly, my “little” girl is now too old to wear the dresses I carry in Janie Lyn's. Thankfully, both of my best friends have baby girls and they help me stay in touch with the latest fashion and trends.

My family is the inspiration for Janie Lyn's Dress Shop. I am a typical Mompreneur and opened Janie Lyn's to be able to work and still be able to spend time with my family. Each member of our family contributes to the dress shop in their own way. My daughter is my sounding board. She is very honest and has no problem saying “No mom, that is ugly!” My husband has reluctantly agreed to be my Website Manager and helps me edit photos and put the dresses into the store.
